Kiley Handley Head Coach

Hi, I’m Kiley. I currently teach Psychology and U.S. Government at North Oldham High School, where I also serve as the swim team coach. I bring a lifelong background in competitive swimming and a strong passion for helping athletes develop both in and out of the pool.

I began my swimming career at a young age, competing for the JCC Gators, Louisville Tarpons, and later the Lakeside Seahawks, a Gold Medal Swim Club in Louisville. While training with Lakeside, I became a USA Swimming State Champion and Sectional Finalist, specializing in sprint freestyle and backstroke. I also competed for DuPont Manual High School, serving as team captain during the 2011–2012 season, and was a member of multiple Girls’ and Combined State Championship teams from 2009–2012.

I continued my competitive career at Southern Illinois University, where I swam on scholarship from 2012–2016. During my time at SIU, our team won the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, and I was honored as a Missouri Valley Scholar Athlete in 2014, 2015, and 2016. These experiences shaped my understanding of high‑level training, discipline, and the balance between academics and athletics.

As a coach, my goals are to help swimmers build strong technical foundations, develop a competitive mindset, and gain confidence in their abilities. I believe in emphasizing proper technique, consistent effort, and goal‑setting while creating a positive, supportive team culture. I strive to help athletes grow not only as swimmers, but also as leaders and teammates who carry valuable life skills beyond the pool. In addition to team coaching, I have experience teaching swim lessons at the JCC and assisting with stroke clinics for the Lakeside Seahawks, and I enjoy working with swimmers of all ages and ability levels.
